Project: CREATE - Aquarium

This was my baby during the production of Create. I made it known that if there was an ocean module in the project that I needed to be on it, so I was put in charge of look development under Joe Olson and Mouhsine Adnani. Research, color palette exploration, concept for animals and environmental assets for the coral brush. I prototyped various aspects in 3D if it felt quicker, like the jellyfish, and also provided artistic support to the rest of the artists on the team through paint overs, textures, and layout.

Here is a promo I did for fun that I think captures the essence of Create. Not everything in this image made it to the final experience, but we were having lots of fun ideating. This represents lots and lots of work by our team and how magical Create is.

In the beginning we just wanted to start prototyping. Of course flying jellyfish in your room would be awesome, so I started playing with some designs based on a Moon Jellyfish, something on the simpler side that wouldn't need a rig. Modeled in Maya

So here's a little vertex animation done on the guy to test. Shaders were built in Amplify Shader Editor

Concepts for types of sea life- we actively researched Floridian ocean life and reefs to pay homage to our home where we work.

The design we landed on, would be about the size of your hand and you could stick it on the wall. Didn't have time for it :(

The coral brush! My heart. I did concept and supported the 3D artists, Mo Adnani and Udell Infante with modeling, layout and texture when needed. I provided paintovers, working side by side with the modelers to quickly iterate.

An early concept. Too much stuff going on, too much detail. This was a very expensive brush with everything we wanted to put on it. So much geo.

We have large, medium and small pieces, so that as you draw on the ground, it creates a new seascape every time. The following are closeups of the final brush, model/UV by Mo and Udell, textures by me, on one sheet cause we have super UV planning skillz
